Process Development and IP
Based on results from a feasibility study in 2016 – 2017, HYBRIT has been conducting extensive technical development and validation in a semi-industrial production environment since 2018, so-called pilot scale.
The focus of the Process Development and IP department is to develop manufacturing processes and validate technology to enable the implementation of Hybrit's fossil-free process concept on an industrial scale.
In addition to technical development, the department is responsible for the management of intellectual property (IP) rights from Hybrit's technical development since 2018.
Within the department, the development company's specialist expertise in processes and fossil-free technology as well as IP is organized. Our technical core areas are hydrogen-based direct reduction of iron ore pellets and storage of hydrogen in underground clad caverns.
The central tasks of the department are:
- Create competitive technical solutions for a fossil-free process.
- Conduct experimental investigations on laboratory and pilot scale.
- Carry out theoretical analyses, modelling and simulation work.
- Analyze the technical feasibility of different process concepts for full-scale implementation.
- Define process design and specifications for full-scale industrial process plants.
- Lead and participate in technical process development within EPCM feasibility studies and projects.
- Lead process development and design projects and assignments.
